By the Dedicated Staff of edhat.com

Morning meteorologist Meredith Garofalo of KEYT-TV and Fox 11 will be moving to Denver, Colorado this weekend to be an on-air meteorologist for the national weather network, WeatherNation.

Garofalo has worked for KEYT for three and a half years, and while she will miss Santa Barbara, she is excited to be able to bring weather information to a wider scale of people. In a Facebook post, Garofalo wrote, “As much as I will miss my Santa Barbara friends and family, this opportunity will now allow me to provide you with coast to coast weather updates on a more frequent and comprehensive basis. I plan on bringing the same amount of charisma, personality, and energy into my forecasts with this amazing team!”

WeatherNation is completely dedicated to weather and bringing breaking news updates with leading and experienced meteorologists. They work with expert storm chasers, spotters, and journalists to provide the public information to keep them safe and aware of the weather. This station is available on DirecTV channel 361, DISH channel 215, Roku, AppleTV, PS4, Smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets, local digital channels and more.

Garofalo is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society, who was a part of KEYT’s morning show re-launch and the founding meteorologist and Motivation Monday host on the Fox affiliate morning show.

In an email to staff, KEYT-TV News Director Jim Lemon said of Garofalo, “One of the pioneers of the program is leaving us for a great, new opportunity. I’d like to thank Meredith for all her efforts to help our product grow and thrive across multiple platforms.”

Garofalo was named 2017 Community Partner of the Year by Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties, Voted Santa Barbara’s Favorite Meteorologist in 2016 in a Weatherist Poll, and was the Teddy Bear Cancer’s Foundation 2016 Dancing Under the Stars Champion. She was also on the Big Brothers Big Sister’s Advisory Council, a Community Council Leader for the American Cancer Society, and three-year co-chair for Family Service Agency/Big Brothers Big Sisters Cooking Up Dreams signature fundraiser.

Kelsey Gerckens will succeed Meredith Garofalo as a full-time weathercaster.
