Cat of the Week: Papa

Most cats have names like “Pumpkin,” “Mittens,” or “Mr. Whiskers.” This cat is named Papa, which suggests a very different level of authority.

Papa is a one-year-old orange cat currently at our Santa Maria campus, and the name alone raises several possibilities. Either he is the warm, welcoming head of the household who greets everyone at the door, or he is quietly running a small but powerful orange-cat organization from the living room couch. At this stage, both theories remain equally plausible.

At one year old, Papa is right in that sweet spot of cat life where curiosity, energy, and confidence all show up at the same time. Every window is interesting, every toy deserves investigation, and every crinkly bag in the house will absolutely be examined by the resident orange cat. Papa certainly looks ready to take on those responsibilities.

There is also the well-documented phenomenon that orange cats often come with a little extra personality. Scientists have not fully explained this yet, but the evidence continues to accumulate.
