An emergency project to improve pavement conditions at the US  Highway 101 undercrossing at Castillo Street is expected to re-open to the public on Friday, Aug. 18 at 12 noon.

Caltrans wishes to thank the Santa Barbara community for their patience and support during this 2-month repair project,” said Caltrans District 5 Director Tim Gubbins.

This project included the installation of a concrete slab placed over a geo-thermal membrane which directs water below the surface towards nearby drainage facilities. Final striping on the roadway was completed this week.

The contractor for this $1.5 million project was Security Paving of Sylmar, CA.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
