Coyote’s Market, a new specialty market in Carpinteria, is set to officially open on April 11, 2026, with a grand opening celebration planned for that day.
The market specializes in locally sourced meat and seafood, along with curated kitchen goods. Coyote’s Market is located at 4945-A Carpinteria Avenue and emphasizes a community-oriented approach.
The grand opening celebration will start from 10 a.m. with pre-ordered bagel pick-ups featuring offerings from Urchin Sourdough. Also offering take-home kits featuring house-made schmears and toppings.

After the grand opening, the store will be closed on April 12 and 13 and will start regular hours on April 14.
Regular hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The opening follows months of preparation, including signing the lease in January 2026 and renovating the space.

The location previously housed Carp Kitchen & Grocery, which closed in late 2025.
Coyote’s Market focuses on products from Central Coast producers. Meat is sourced from small ranches that follow regenerative practices and raise animals without hormones or antibiotics.
Seafood will be sourced from West Coast fisheries that use sustainable methods, prioritizing local fishermen.
Suppliers include Bella Beef Co. in Los Alamos, which provides pasture-raised beef.

In addition to meat and seafood, the market offers local dry goods, pantry staples, and kitchen essentials.
The market is owned and operated by Carpinteria natives Peter and Caroline Hernandez, who brings a mix of business and food industry experience.
Caroline’s background includes early exposure to farmers markets and family-run ventures. The catering company was named Best Catering Company by San Francisco Magazine for three consecutive years, according to its website.
Peter co-founded Brothers of Industry, a millwork company serving restaurants and hotels across the Central Coast. His path later shifted toward agriculture after his family acquired a 400-acre cattle ranch in 2020, where he gained hands-on experience in regenerative ranching.
The name “Coyote’s” comes from a personal connection, from their dogs and coyotes being native to California.
