Carpinteria Creek Bike Path is Now Open

Thank you to everyone that helped open the reconfigured Carpinteria Creek Bike Path! The new path connects from Casitas Pass Road along Via Real and Carpinteria Creek to Carpinteria Avenue.
In observance of the holidays, crews will not work on December 24th, 25th, and January 1st.

**Please remember that Via Real is closed between Casitas Pass Road and Vallecito Road. Hales Lane residents have access from Via Real. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on Via Real, but please refrain from entering the construction area.**

Closures

• Highway 101 will be closed nightly on Wednesday and Thursday, December 26th and 27th, as needed between Linden Avenue and Casitas Pass Road from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am for grading near Casitas Pass Road. Please use the detours on Bailard, Carpinteria, and Santa Ynez Avenues as shown on the map below.

• The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will have daily temporary closures Wednesdays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm from December 26th – 28th and January 2nd – 4th. Please use off-ramps at either Linden or Bailard Avenues as alternate routes.

Casitas Pass Road

• Overcrossing
  • Crews will continue work on the underside (soffit) and internal supports (stems) for the next section of the overcrossing.

Linden Avenue Overcrossing

• Crews will continue installing wood forms and pouring concrete for the side supports (abutments) for the next section of the new overcrossing.

Highway 101

• Sound walls
  • Northbound Highway 101 between Linden Avenue and Franklin Creek (behind Nipomo Drive)
    • Crews will continue drilling and installing the underground supports (piles) for the new wall. 
  • Southbound Highway 101 between Linden Avenue and Casitas Pass Road
    • Crews are excavating and installing rebar for the wall footing.
• Carpinteria Creek

The reconfigured bike path is now open!

The path connects from Casitas Pass Road along Via Real and Carpinteria Creek to Carpinteria Avenue. 

• Work continues on the southbound Highway 101 bridge barrier rail over Carpinteria Creek.
• New drainage improvements are being installed at Carpinteria Creek, Via Real, Casitas Pass Road, and near the new northbound on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road. 
• Electrical work is progressing around the project to install new lighting on Via Real.
• Retaining wall work is occurring along southbound Highway 101 south of Casitas Pass Road.

Via Real

• Via Real is closed from Casitas Pass Road to the old northbound Highway 101 on-ramp. Drivers can use the new northbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Casitas Pass to access the freeway. Local residents can still access Hales Lane on Via Real. 
• Crews will install wood forms and pour concrete for the retaining wall along Via Real between Casitas Pass Road and Hales Lane.

Upcoming Work: winter/spring

• The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will close continuously for up to 1 month. Please note this is in addition to the daytime closures listed above. Detour maps can be viewed at SBROADS.com.
