Caltrans Completes Olive Mill Bridge Rail Project In Montecito

Source: Caltrans

A project to replace the bridge rails on the US Highway 101 Overcrossing at Olive Mill Road damaged during the Montecito flooding in January has been completed.

Olive Mill Road is now fully open to two-way traffic over US 101 following the one-way traffic control which was in place for the duration of this project.  US Highway 101 was also resurfaced in the areas submerged by debris in January.  The falsework for this project will be removed in the coming weeks.

Caltrans wishes to thank the residents along Danielson Lane, the Montecito Inn and the Montecito business community for their patience during this project.

Caltrans completed this emergency project in four months which would have taken eight months under normal conditions with construction taking place six days a week since the beginning of November.  The contractor for this $1.7 million project was Granite Construction of Santa Barbara.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
