Butterfly Lane Pedestrian Undercrossing Expected to Finish This Summer

Source: Caltrans

Caltrans is making progress on the US Highway 101 Pedestrian Undercrossing at Butterfly Lane as part of a major improvement project.

A long-term 24/7 closure of the undercrossing continues while construction activities continue over the next several weeks which will include completion of the walls and stairways compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).   Construction activities before the full opening will include electrical work, landscaping, irrigation and the installation of fences and gates.

The railroad crossing at the south side of the Undercrossing will include a new walkway, handrails and crossing arms with visual and audio signals.

Pedestrians and Cyclists are encouraged to use the Olive Mill Road Overcrossing as a detour during this construction project.  Notices have been posted to advise all travelers about the temporary closure of this undercrossing.

The mural inside the Undercrossing will be maintained as part of this project.  The contractor for this $3.7 million project is C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Valencia, CA.  This project is expected to be complete this summer.
