The Buellton Area of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, September 06, 2025, within an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County in the Buellton CHP jurisdictional area.
“All too often, community members are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. The goal of the CHP is to ensure the safe passage of every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. A sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint is a proven, effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. By publicizing our efforts, we believe that we can deter motorists from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and/or unlicensed. Our objective is to send a clear message to those individuals considering driving while unlicensed or impaired,” said Lieutenant Jason Bronson, the Commander of the Buellton Area. Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving while unlicensed.
NOTE: The sobriety/driver license checkpoint will be operated from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am. The media may contact the San Luis Obispo CHP dispatch at (805) 593-3333 on September 06, 2025, between 4:00-6:00 p.m. for the exact checkpoint location.
Questions regarding the sobriety checkpoint may be directed to Buellton Area CHP Public Information Officer A. Dhanda or Sergeant K. Antonetti, at (805) 691-6160. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
