  1. Saw this same encampment from the train yesterday. It is huge. Amazing that you have dozens of people living there, coming and going and lounging. I think this one is on Caltrans property. Homeless camps start just north of Summerland. Montecito has quite a few big ones. SB city tracks are lined with camps. Then in Goleta you have a few huge ones right north of Goleta station. Train conductor said he heard they were going to clear them out but nothing has happened.

  2. I drive by this offramp all the time and yesterday I saw a ton of opened amazon boxes sitting around. the odds of some of these being stolen is really high. It’s too bad nothing is really being done here

  3. Our city is full of encampments just like this one that are an eyesore not too mention a violation of every zoning and planning law. And most importantly a health and safety hazard! Our Mayor has not done a thing to stem their growth nor put forth any action that would eliminate their presence. Heck, I cannot even re-call a formal statement by the woman. Murillo is an abject failure. She has proven to be the least capable, least effective mayor in our history. She is only interested in the easy duties, rubber stamps, cheap photo-ops and toothless assertions. Mayor Murillo, do the right thing for the future of Santa Barbara and resign.

  4. My neighbors had a late delivery of Pet Food from Chewys the guy who dropped it off put it right on the front porch of course it’s going to get ransacked sounds like they are over staying the welcome they never got.

  5. The illegal encampment at the southbound Castillo off ramp has been obvious for several months. The piles of trash, makeshift shelter and shopping carts left down in the off ramp were certainly noticed by our city leaders as well as police and fire department personnel. Why no one took action to clear out the encampment is perplexing. The obvious explanation is that none of the aforementioned entities did their job. Will one of them chime in and explain?
