That's admirable of them, but when I got bids for my solar project last year, Telsa was at least $7K higher than the next lowest bidder.

This is a significant issue. Everyone south of the tracks is at risk if one of these fires occurs during a bad sundowner. These 'homeless encampment' fires occur almost weekly, but usually it is not a big problem, just a spot fire, maybe some Eucs involved. But the potential is huge. What to do? The Homeless aren't going away and government cannot help enough of them get out of that lifestyle. Clear out a camp, it just pops up down the tracks. The only thing I can think of is an aggressive effort to clear undergrowth and debris along the corridor. If this is not done, the tinder will always be there, along with the people who will set it off.

LUVADUCK. I agree with you. The winds up north over night, 80+ mph gusts. Alpine Meadows, Tahoe, 103mph. It's so gusty right now over Kincaid Fire that the fixed wing aircraft can't fly -- too dangerous. If we get those winds, and couple them with homeless lighting arson fires, we're all homeless. The Painted Cave Fire was small, but with a gusty wind behind it, it morphed into a monster that moved quickly. It burned out the housing area on the hill, jumped Foothill, burned another densely populated area and jumped 101 in about an hour. Imagine the scenario with an upslope fire from one of these vagrant camps by the railroad: Whole housing areas would be indefensible. With a gusting wind blowing embers, fire brands and enough heat to start spontaneous combustion, every housing area north of the railroad tracks could burn. A scheduled running/biking event along Cathedral Oaks with police stationed along the route screws up traffic for hours. A panicked population leaving en masse from this area would be impossible. People would die in place as if Mt. Etna erupted.

Luvaduck - I lived thru Painted Cave as well as Sycamore and self-evacuated both times. What is your point? Evacuation, no matter how immediate, is always tough. Yes, especially now, we need to be more vigilant than in past years. It's the new face of life here in SB.

Terrifying! In N. Cal. air raid sirens going off in the dark, power is off. Sirens notifying of new fire and Mandatory Evacuation in Graton CA. Scary! https://twitter.com/KOCOMichael/status/1188281652323241985

Some people think it's ok for homeless to live near the tracks. Out of site out of mind. When they get moved out of the tracks they start moving on the sidewalks. People get all up an arms as if the problem wasnt already there.

Why is that homeless camp still there??? It's been there for awhile, there were just a bunch of police there a few weeks back. Get rid of it!

Roger if any one is NOT a NIMBY it's you! That's just a tactic to shame someone when the other person has no good argument or stance. We should not have to put up with this!

I don't know were the NIMBY's I was called one last week I guess were supposed to embrace these fires like it's some kind of break through. I call it arson myself.

The homeless starting all these fires; soon we'll all be homeless, too. Thank you vagrant homeless. Many fire starts during last few weeks. When is enough...enough?

Don't need to walk through an urban combat zone wearing flashy jewelry and waving money to know what will happen eventually.

It doesn’t matter that homes have not burned down YET! We just need a good windy day and embers will fly. These fires also tie up our first responders!

How many people lost their homes from this fire or any other recently. I missed the news that homes were burning from these small fires along the freeway.
