Brush Fire Contained Near Vandenberg Space Force Base

Firefighters contained a nearly 25-acre brush fire near Vandenberg Space Force Base on Thursday.

The sparked in the afternoon along Orion Road along the northern section of the base and south of Casmalia.

The fire was fully contained as of Thursday evening.

There were reportedly no damaged structures or injuries. The cause is under investigation.

Local residents reported seeing smoke from Highway 1 that spread into the valley. The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District issued a warning for Lompoc and the Santa Ynez Valley regarding smoke in the area.
