Brush Fire Contained Near Casmalia

Santa Barbara County Firefighters contained a 3-acre brush fire near Casmalia early Monday afternoon.

At 12:09 p.m., fire crews received a report of light smoke coming from the Old Orcutt area at Point Sal and Santos Roads. They initiated a full vegetation response and on arrival found approximately three-acres burning in light fuel at a slow rate of spread near the old Casmalia dumpsite.

Crews immediately began a perimeter control and forward progress was stopped.

Firefighters will remain on the scene for the rest of the afternoon mopping up. 

There were no injuries or structures threatened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
