The Santa Barbara City Fire Department is currently on scene of a large water main break in the Ladera Street and McKinley School area in Santa Barbara.

Crews were called for a hazardous condition at 4:22am. Upon arrival, SBFD E-71 found a large amount of water and debris on Ladera Street that was coming down the hillside from McKinley School.  This was an active water leak with a large amount of water flowing. Upon further investigation, crew was able to hear water coming from under the McKinley campus which resulted in water flow down the hill to Ladera Street.

Additional resources were requested.  Assessment of the condominiums found some damage with a large pathway of water damage on the hillside.

Currently the City of Santa Barbara Public Works is on scene attempting to assess the origin of the leak.  Water has been turned off on Loma Alta Drive and Ladera Street. The active leak has stopped. City officials will determine the location of the leak.  School District officials are currently on scene also assessing for any damage to the school property.
