A project to replace the bridge rails on the US Highway 101 Overcrossing at Olive Mill Road which were damaged during the Montecito flooding this past January will begin on Monday, August 20.

  • Alternating lane closures in both directions of US Highway 101 near Olive Mill Road will begin Monday night, August 20 through Friday morning, August 24 during the overnight hours from 9 pm until 5 am. These closures will allow Caltrans to install a protective barrier in this area and begin leveling the surface below the bridge before installing falsework the following week.

The contractor for this $1.2 million project is Granite Construction of Santa Barbara, CA.  This project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, weather permitting.  This project will improve safety and is part of restoring infrastructure following the Montecito debris flow earlier this year.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
