The café occupies the former site of Yanni’s Greek Deli, a long-established local eatery.
Construction on the property began in April 2024. Early plans had proposed naming the café “Teddy’s on State”, according to The Restaurant Guy. The project ultimately launched under the Brass Bird name.
The café is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with weekend brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The State Street location offers a menu similar to the original Carpinteria café, with a few new items added.
Members of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning learned about Brass Bird’s Santa Barbara expansion during a visit, according to Coastal View News.

They also offer a food menu that includes avocado toast, breakfast burritos, smoked salmon plates, sandwiches, and paninis. The café also serves craft energy drinks and house-made sparklers, as mentioned on their website.
The name Brass Bird was inspired by the founder’s grandmother, Theodora, and the brass bird figurines passed down through her family. These family heirloom brass birds influenced the café’s name, symbolizing warmth and familiarity, according to the brand.

Typo!
It’s 3102 State St, not 3120.
It’s the corner where the old McKenzie Market used to be.
What a blessing for those who live on the mountain side of State Street in that neighborhood to have the Brass Bird to score coffee and more. There are at least eight places within easy walking distance of the Brass Bird to get coffee. For six of those places pedestrians, are forced to cross State and/or De la Vina to access.
