Boiler Fire at Greka Oil Facility

Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to a boiler fire at the Greka Oil facility in Santa Maria Valley on Monday.

At 9:01 a.m., crews responded to 1660 Sinton Road at the crude oil processing plant for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found flames and smoke coming out of a boiler.

The building was evacuated as responders shut off the fuel valves going to the boiler. The fire was isolated inside the boiler and did not spread to the surrounding building. 

There were no injuries reported. An oil and gas investigator is en route to assess and determine the cause.
