On Sunday morning the body of a 15-year-old girl was found in the rocks near Port Hueneme Beach Promenade. The Port Hueneme Police Department reported the finding 60 yards west of the intersection of Surfside Drive at Market Street.
The discovery was made around 9:59 a.m. on Oct. 20, following a call to the Port Hueneme Police Department about an unresponsive individual spotted in the vicinity of the 100 block of West Port Hueneme Beach Promenade.
Officers, alongside medical personnel, rushed to the scene to assist, though the young girl was found unresponsive among the rocks and pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the teen has not yet been revealed, as authorities are in the process of notifying her next of kin.
Initial observations noted by officials found no visible signs of trauma on the body, The cause of death remains under investigation.
