The man whose body was recovered Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, from the beach below Santa Barbara’s Mesa neighborhood has been identified as 53-year-old Ryan Quinn of Isla Vista, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Raquel Zick.
Quinn was previously employed by the college as an hourly employee and was involved with the student media program Fresh Frames, which features film, animation, and photography by SBCC students, reports The Independent.
Zick said Friday the cause and manner of death remain pending.
Edhat previously reported that Santa Barbara police stated dispatchers received a report at approximately 9:52 a.m. Tuesday, of a body on the beach near the 1800 block of Camino de la Luz.
Officers and Santa Barbara Search and Rescue responded and located the body near rocks at the base of the cliff.
Police initially said there were no signs of foul play, though the death remains under investigation.
