  1. How many billions sent to Ukraine? $100, $200?
How much money will CA sound in reparations for a state that never had slavery?
Right, our government doesn’t care about Americans.
    37 years old, dead.
The average mortality age of homeless is I think 50 verse those with homes at 78.
But hey, don’t help the homeless get off the street and drug free. The current policy is organic free range homeless. CA is all about “organic”.
Let them be in their natural environment foraging for food and shelter.
Seriously F’d up Democratic Party, the “Party of the People”
Apparently not all people as evidenced by CA having 30% of the nations homeless despite only being 12% of the US population.
    200,000 homeless children.
Cost effective so,utilities s have been introduced. Ben Carson, 4 years ago, negotiated to use Federal Lands to build low income housing removing building road blocks. Newson & Biden ignore this.
Meanwhile our government spends millions to home a handful of homeless in hotels for a month or two.
But wait, the City collects a good 30% of that in mgmt fees.
    Track the money.

    • SB – sending money to Ukraine or keeping it here is NOT going to stop some people from making active choices that result in situations like this. I have known a lot of homeless people in my life and many are there based upon their active decision to NOT work a job and who are drug or alcohol addicted instead. Some others choose that life instead of conforming to society’s rules and don’t want to pay to live. Many people come to our area for the climate, it’s easier to live outdoors here much of the year than in a lot of other areas, and also we have a LOT of resources. It is never enough because our homeless population grows so fast.
I’m not saying that all homeless people are choosing the hardships but there are jobs to be had and options available for people who choose to work and take advantage of those options. It is NOT easy but most people are capable of making choices that guide their destiny. Sad and not a popular thing to say but true.

    • Homeless froze around the country (in red and blue staes) before the attack by Russia on the Ukraine. You far-right Q followers seem to be ok with Putin because he is a white Christian nationalist. You don’t have the same patients for China (wonder why? /S) The red states are perpetually on the dole. In fact red states are the welfare queens. Show us what the red states are doing to get homeless of streets, or people off of opiates. Pot meet kettle.

    • You appear suffer from the same lack of basic understanding of global events as most of your deranged MAGA brethren. For people who claim to be such authorities on the war in Ukraine, it might help if you understand what, exactly, we are sending in the form of aid. We are NOT sending money to Ukraine as you incorrectly believe; we are sending military equipment from our arsenal, most of it older and set to be replaced in the next budget. The amount cited in the media is actually the value of said equipment, not money in the form of a check. The total amount of aid so far is valued around $25 billion—ten times less than your wildly exaggerated estimate and only a very small fraction of the military’s overall budget.
Of course, it would help if your party’s leaders demonstrated that they have any understanding of both the nature of the aid we are sending or why we are doing it (to protect the free world from a genocidal madman), but they, like you, show no sign of comprehension of the situation you so cynically and heartlessly politicize while innocent civilians cower in freezing bunkers, face torture, rape, starvation, forced relocation and death. You can’t even pretend to have empathy for their suffering as you type your vitriol from the comfort of your warm room, and you sure as hell don’t understand the tiniest iota of the bravery and sacrifice their people are showing the world as they fight for YOU and YOUR freedom, you Putin-worshipping traitor to all that is good and righteous in our country.

    • It is indeed tragic. Compounding the tragedy is the fact that a very sick and sad individual deliberately came into this thread to distract and deflect from our local crisis of the unhoused by spewing FOX News/Kremlin lies about a totally unrelated topic—on the one-year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, no less.
That person is the type who normally comes to any thread about the homeless in Santa Barbara and labels them filth and the source of all our problems, by the way. We see that sociopathic cruelty on display every day by our resident Trumpers.
