Rest in peace, sir. So tragic how people die alone like this. It’s even more shameful that we haven’t done enough to help them. We need action, not just more money. Sadly, too many in Congress listen to their selfish and barbaric constituents who oppose any and all attempts to help the homeless.
Yes. But the obstinacy is not just Congress. This stuff has to be addressed on the local level and so many NIMBY’s object to any realistic remedy. No small houses in Pacific Palisades. No shelter housing in suburbia. No resources centers in downtown Santa Barbara. No toilets on the streets for transients. And the money allocated to county agencies from self-imposed voter approved taxes are too often used to “study” the problem and seldom used to actually build facilities and start programs to intervene. Etc.
If you want to help those living on the streets, best to leave the finger pointing to someone else. An easy start is to simply purchase and hand out socks. Yes….socks. If you do not want to hand them out yourself for whatever reason, please donate to any organization that is set up to do so. If you’re not sure what to buy, here is a good start (with Amazon links):

Bees How dare you suggest “socks” would somehow have saved this man. Not even a mention of sadness or condolences. Nonsensical thought salad as usual. Completely puzzling and 100% out of touch comment! RIP to this soul, rest easy.
BEES – are you really this clueless? Socks are great, but they don’t get people off the streets.
Truly civilized nations don’t have this problem and it has nothing to do with socks.
