Blondes vs Brunettes Complete Their 4th Fundraiser

Saturday afternoon found the dedicated staff of edhat.com on the sidelines of the 4th Annual Blondes vs Brunettes charity flag football event, held at Bishop Diego High School.  The game is part of a fundraising effort to support local community members affected by Alzheimer’s, through the global Alzheimer’s Association.

Lauren Bray, edhat’s Managing Editor took to the field for the cause, and edhat.com was proud to join a host of local companies as a sponsor. Many subscribers and friends of Ed stopped by our booth to say hi, and pick up edhat swag, or just chat for a few minutes in the shade.

There was food and shave ice and beer and a raffle, and KJEE hosted a football-through-a-hoop toss at halftime. We may have seen a local former football player/political candidate shagging balls. All proceeds from this fun event went to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Don’t let the blonde/brunette thing fool you.  Either shade can play on either team.  But both teams are made up of really athletic and committed women.  Really committed. Ed and the dedicated staff thought the game was pretty rugged for a flag football match. We didn’t see any actual blood, but there were definitely a couple of injuries. Our own Lauren ended her day with what is looking like a torn ACL.  We tried to make her feel better by telling her that only real bad-ass athletes tear their ACLs. (Can we say that?) Anyway, we’re hoping for the best and wishing her a speedy recovery.

The final score of the game was 28 to 14, with a Team Brunette win; ending a two-year streak by Team Blonde. Congratulations to both teams!
