At the October 9 Planning Commission meeting, City staff will be presenting a status update and receiving input on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) project. The BPMP will promote public health, reduce automobile usage and fuel consumption, and promote transportation equity. Public feedback throughout this process has been important in making this project a success.

An outline of the BPMP has been drafted and City staff have been working with the members of the Technical Advisory Committee on the specific components and order. The BPMP document will include the following: Vision, Goals, and Objectives; Relationships to Planning documents; Benefits of Walking and Bicycling; Community Input; Facility types; Current states of practice; Existing Conditions and Analysis; Recommendations; and Potential Future Funding Opportunities. The consultant team is working on creating a draft BPMP document based on this outline.

The Planning Commission meeting is at 6:00 p.m. on October 9 in City Council Chambers (130 Cremona Drive, Suite B). Click here to see the report for the meeting. The full project webpage can be viewed here.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update

“The BPMP will promote public health, reduce automobile usage and fuel consumption..” Its sad you don’t bother to read or comprehend but I have been following this bike plan thing for a while now and the biggest goal is for them to get people out of their cars. So as usual, your comment are in the deleted section because your attacks on me are pathetic. Sorry you can’t handle the truth.

Taking away parking on Cota st. is a HORRIBLE idea! Put the bike lane on Haley, where the street is already less parking friendly. I work downtown and we NEED that parking!

Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update

I have to chime in as usual...I see no less cars at all in fact there seems to be more and more each day. You cannot and will not force people to ride bikes unless you ban cars. Nobody is planning on moving to the Forbes 25 most expensive place to live in America list to ride a freakin bicycle. I ride for fun and no I'm not trading in my car to bike around.

And as usual your comment nearly completely lacks sense. This plan has nothing to do with forcing people to ride bikes, only making it more safe and appealing to do so.
