A new report lists the best and worst items to buy on the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday.

Approximately 27% of American shoppers are planning to spend less during the 2021 holiday season compared to 2020, according to the personal-finance website WalletHub. Their report, 2021's Best Things to Buy on Black Friday, determines that 23% of items offer no savings compared with their pre-Black Friday prices.

To find out whether shoppers are really getting the best deals, WalletHub compared the “Pre-Black Friday Price” against the actual Black Friday price of a broad selection of items. In doing so, WalletHub identified the offers that are truly worth the hassle of partaking in the year’s biggest shopping craze.

Below is a comparison of retailers according to the percentage of “good” deals they offer — that is, compared with the same products from Amazon.com. If the price offered by retailers is lower than the price on Amazon.com, this was considered a good deal, with the opposite representing a bad deal. Please note that complete data were not available for some items and therefore were excluded from our analysis.

Best Items to Buy on Black Friday

Lord yes. About 4 years ago FedEx shows up and unloads 5 huge boxes at my door. After checking that the wife hadn't gone crazy on Amazon, I realized they all had been sent from my Mom's address back east. Inside was all of the stuff left behind when I had moved out decades earlier. A note was enclosed saying that the free storage offer had been rescinded as she wanted her closet space back for herself. Found out that she had done the same with my two brothers and one sister. I now threaten my own kids that one day FedEx will be coming to their homes too.

If you have relatives, specifically children, who will be burdened with getting rid of all your stuff, you might find some joy in starting to declutter before the final necessity of it falls to someone else. It's nice to donate and gift stuff. At the least, don't keep adding to it!

Thank you - I like that - "a nation of gatherers".

My work puts me inside of homes in the county on a daily basis and I am always amazed at the sheer amount of "stuff" we pack into our abodes.

Easily 95% of the junk has no purpose in terms of survival which relegates the junk to some category centered on desire to have things. I often wonder if the owners of the knick-knacks and doo-dads are even still aware of the presence of these things or have they disappeared into the background of your decor.

I get the feeling that our modern society exists solely on a platform of making and selling doo-dads that people are encouraged to possess through advertising and social media simply to be forgotten and relegated to some dusty shelf in the museum of your living room.

I am as guilty as most - I've got stuff all over the place for reasons I can no longer even recall. I'm starting to miss the days when everything I owned had purpose and would fit in the trunk of one car trip when I moved.

Better yet: buy local (or don't buy at all and give the gift of experiences to your loved ones).
