Cajun Kitchen Cafe is returning to Goleta with its classic breakfast and lunch options.
The restaurant on 6831 Hollister Avenue, Suite A, is set to reopen the week of February 16, 2026. The restaurant is located in the shopping center of Target, at the intersection of Storke Road and is across the street from the Camino Real Shopping Center.
The restaurant had closed 11 months ago to undergo extensive renovations to its interiors and exteriors to upgrade the customer service, said Jorge Peralta, Cajun Kitchen’s Director of Operations, in a statement to edhat.
The new space now sports a fresh, modern look, with an enhanced dining area, and a spacious breakfast counter to create a more welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for guests.
Once it opens, Cajun Kitchen Cafe will operate every day, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Menu options include comfort, traditional breakfast items, such as a selection of omelets, scrambles, benedicts, cornbreads, chile verde, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and fruit and yogurt parfait.
Lunch items include jambalaya, pork chops, seafood gumbo, burgers and sandwiches, and a variety of salads.
Currently, Cajun Kitchen Cafe has several other locations including downtown Santa Barbara, on 901 Chapala Street, in Goleta off Calle Real, and another location on East Main Street in downtown Ventura.
The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch with a Cajun twist.
Cajun Kitchen Cafe was founded in 1984, when Santa Barbara native Richard Jimenez Sr. took over the struggling Cajun Kitchen location on De La Vina Street in Santa Barbara, according to the restaurant’s website.
At the time, Jimenez was a prep cook with no formal restaurant management experience. He learnt the ropes along with his wife, while raising a family and opening more locations.
The restaurant has been a family-run business since Jimenez took over, with all members of the family working in various roles over the years.
The couple’s children have grown up around the restaurant, playing in the empty dining rooms and kitchens after hours. The children also bussed tables during their summer vacations and worked at the restaurant throughout high school.
Today, the oldest sons, Richard Jr. and Juan, have joined the family business, continuing the traditions established by their parents.
Remaining a family owned and operated business has helped the owners ensure that the staff is happy, the owners said in the website.
“We believe our staff are the ones that lead to our quality food and speedy, friendly service,” the owners said.

Great news! Since I was a teenager, Cajun Kitchen has been my favorite breakfast spot(s) in town! Glad this other Goleta one is opening up again!
I miss the De La Vina location…it was our spot for every father’s day and husband’s birthday.
Good news, indeed. Our neighborhood Cajun restaurant. I just wish they would stay open longer in the day.
Right, Robert? Could you imagine if they starting doing dinner too? Now, Palace still takes the cake on Cajun, but how great would it to be to have another option for some etouffee?
So now the “Original location” on De la Vina – now Haven & B**m *oo* Bike Room (safety first!) staying with a single ownership (thanks Alex!)…
