For being the day after the 4th, the beach and whole area were clean as could be! SB city did a fabulous job cleaning up the boulevard and beaches!

Here pics from our senior's dog walk with a stroller! Both our dogs were tired and both wanted to be in the stroller at the same time. So we tried it. "No way!" was Penny's answer to that, so she tried to get out the back zipper. I had to take her picture before helping her out.

I really enjoyed the pits people used to dig on the beach and the "fireworks wars" we had there. We were so free in our youth before the "Nanny" mentality took over. Yes, there were risks, but somehow we not only survived, we thrived! I would not care to be young in todays' world, which makes getting old not so bad after all.

The parks by East beach were kind of a mess at 6 am, but by 9 am a lot of clean-up progress had already been made! People were hard at work in those hours.

I like how the pic of Sterns Wharf is all cock-eyed. Use "crop" in Apple photolab and sometimes it automatically levels "slanty" photos. Or, if not, you can do it yourself.

Yeah, but we found some wonderful new beach towels the next day. Enough to share.

We even dug a pit at "the pit" and roasted a wild boar we got up on Figueroa Mtn. at our Luau for the 1221 Club back in '67.

Back in the days when the Fire Dept. put on the fireworks it was allowed to build fires on the beach. Big parties with bonfires left a real mess the firemen had to clean up the next day.
