Barbarian Life

By John Wiley
Cruising the continent by air we've visited friends and family eager to share their river, mountain, lake or wilderness. Yet when we return to all that and so much more, especially after a flight like this Valentine's Day, we're happy to be here amid gentle Santa Barbarians.
Big sky over the Valley was delicious, Cachuma shone like a gem, and the San Marcos Foothills wore a lush green cloak.

Feb 15, 2022 01:50 PMWe were looking at the Cachuma campground peninsula just now, and "saw" it as a sort of mutant (Charlie Brown cartoon) Snoopy puppy pointing toward the left. Can you see it? I wonder if we'll see it that way next time we fly past. Maybe only in this pic, because of how the light made it stand out from the foreground terrain?

Feb 16, 2022 11:48 PMI had no idea that photo was from Cachuma. I"m not familiar with that view, and it's SO shocking to see any of it green. ;-)
Love the shot of the road to no where!
