Bank Robbery in Solvang, Suspect on the Loose

At approximately 11:40 a.m. today, June 13, 2019, the Rabobank located in the 1500 block of Mission Drive was robbed. The suspect passed a note to the teller demanding cash. No weapon was seen. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was last seen on foot headed northbound on Fourth Street. As a precautionary measure, nearby Solvang Elementary School was placed on a brief lockdown.

Sheriff’s deputies assisted by several K-9 teams and a Santa Barbara County Sheriff/Fire Air Support Unit helicopter searched the area for the suspect, but he was not located.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his thirties, approximately 5’8” tall, with a thin to medium build and green or blue eyes. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt with an image of an alien and writing on the sleeves, white pants and a white Under Armor hat with a black logo.

  1. When you name the bank Rabo Bank, which sounds like Rob a Bank, what can you truly expect. Everytime I hear of a bank robbery I always think it’s probably another Rabo Bank. I also think they may have easier locations to make a smoother get a way. But seriously, the name has always seemed to me like being dared to Rabo Bank. Lol
