Security was on high alert around the Bacara entrances and exits late Saturday afternoon. A worker near the tennis court parking lot confirmed the resort had been “completely bought out” for the weekend for a private party.
A large white tent straddled the west bound lane of traffic – everyone had to stop and present credentials. Two large security guards confirmed the event was “just a private party”, for the host and a few hundred of their closest friends one can assume.
The vibe felt somehow “Hollywood” – everyone we saw was too well dressed, and too similar in age to represent a typical corporate get-together. 358 paid for rooms, for two nights, at an average of (just a guess) $700 per night must have added up to a weekend party of at least a million dollars.
Did anyone notice unusually high traffic at the jet center at the airport?
A lot of unanswered questions here, but what I really want to know is….who cares?
A couple folks who are all into gawking about local celebrities, movie stars, and thriving on gossip – often LA types.
BASIC – “often LA types?” Are you new to SB? You ever see the throngs of locals that come out during the SBIFF to catch any glimpse they can of a celebrity?
Why can’t you just let an article go without posting something snarky or insulting about the person who wrote it? Maybe you should submit news sometime and let everyone comment on what you consider to be important.
Oh yeah, those aren’t locals though dude. 99% of your “throngs at the film festival” are transplants who didn’t grow up here, which is fine. But don’t make stiff up, that’s not fine. Snarky? I just don’t like the LA influence. That’s about it.
Who cares? Is the answer to the article here, for me.
BASIC – your comment is so poorly written, it’s hard to really understand what you’re trying to say.
Uh anyway, as for the “99%” of SBIFF attendants being “transplants,” that’s just making “stiff up” as you tried to say. In other words, total bullshit, once again. You’re just blabbering weird incorrent stuff that you are making up in your head, like always. Yawn.
Basic, it’s cute that you center your identity on not being from LA, that is so, so important to you. But you do realize that “Hollywood”, i.e., the film industry, was here 112 years ago, right?
I did notice on Thursday night there were some pretty high powered lights coming from that direction. Reminded me of when the Arlington theater would have those giant beacons on opening nights. Not sure it’s related.
It’s not Hollywood people. It’s tech.
What’s your source?
My source is trust me bro.
I know the organizers of the event.
According to our resident truth lover, it was “Mega Elite Democrats.” I’d rather them than the trashy and ignorant Trump Train folks that polluted our streets on Saturday. People who support violence against immigrants are never a good thing.
Mega Elite Democrats (Google/You Tube, Apple and Microsoft) having their brain trust at the Ritz-Carlton… ALL flying in on their private jets and helicopters. In the past, they even moving all the Ritz-Carlton furniture and replaced it with their OWN furnishings…. LOL!
What’s your source?
Do you hate all rich people or only Democrats?
If it’s only Democrats read up on the tech bro support for Donald Trump, like, uh, ever heard of some dickwad named Elon Musk?
Alex – LOL! Reminds me of a recent viral video of a 13 YO kid shutting down the full of shit My Pillow Guy with, “ ‘Trust me bro.’ Is that all you got?”
or Peter Thiel, who’s probably more dangerously insane (and definitely more of an adult) but not as famous
or Koch Bros, the wannabe kings of USA (oh wait I think one of ’em died?)
or Harlan Crow, who currently owns at least one Supreme Court Justice
or Timothy Mellon, just rich as hell,
