Avoid Storke and Phelps Intersection

Update by City of Goleta
March 4, 2020

The City of Goleta Public Works Department continues to work with the Goleta West Sanitary District to repair the Storke Road and Phelps Road intersection traffic signal. Power went out at the traffic signal yesterday, March 3, during complications encountered during a Goleta West Sanitary District project.

Traffic through the intersection will continue to be north-south only with stop signs and red flashing beacons. Phelps Road will remain closed in both directions. There are detours in place for Phelps Road. Please use alternate travel routes if possible.

We hope to have the traffic signal up and running soon. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.

The City of Goleta is requesting residents and visitors avoid the Storke Road and Phelps Road intersection at this time. The Goleta West Sanitary District has been working in the area on a project and today had a complication which caused the traffic light to go dark at the intersection. Currently there are stop signs in place with red flashing beacons. Also, the turn lanes on Phelps Road are closed (the right hand turn lane from southbound Storke Road onto westbound Phelps Road, in front of the hotel, and from eastbound Phelps Road onto Storke southbound).  Please use alternate routes if possible to lessen the traffic demand at this intersection.

The Goleta West Sanitary District is working with Southern California Edison to make the repairs as soon as possible.
