Rypert Johnson maybe finally acting on his delusional fantasies of "retribution" against homeless people?

Wow you didn't even give ol Rypert a chance to chime in, you just brought him right into it yourself.

SFG - I figured I'd beat him to the punch this time. He's been oddly quiet today lol!

Yep Sacjon, that's by far the most likely back-story here.

I mean, it couldn't possibly be ANOTHER instance of same illegal and violent and arsonistic behavior that we see from our un-policed homeless encampments day after day.... they've got to take a break sometime, right?

TRANS - as much as you might not like to believe, there are a lot of crimes committed by "housed" criminals in this town (and others).

Transparent Jun 08, 2021 04:03 PM

100% agree. And sometimes the unhoused will actually avail themselves of the generous support programs offered to them. But the more important question is, did you remember to tell the PD to be on the lookout for Rypert!?

There is an old saying: 10% of the people commit 90% of the crime.
It not that other people do not commit crimes, it is that the gang community and the homeless community both have a lot of over achievers.

TRANSPARENT, you'd be better of informing the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office or Goleta Police Department as to my whereabouts. Santa Barbara Police Depertment, I'm out of their jurisdiction. But then again, I'd have to actually commit a crime to get their attention. You know, crime, like the "houseless neighbors" are constantly and repeatedly commiting. Don't worry, SACJON will be here soon defending their behavior. Have to love that guy, especially for putting me up in his head rent free. I am so flattered!

Whomever voted my post down should post the Data Science that proves otherwise.
You are a member of the party of "science and data", so bring it. Vote me down with science and data. Data scientists can show that over 90% of self reported adult gang members have committed numerous crimes. Google it and read ten sources. In other words, do some research, show your work.
I'll do mine and counter.
I'll gift you this as a jump in point

Because clearly science and data are just shibboleth:
"64.2 percent of gang
members said that members of their gang had committed homicide, whereas 6.5 percent of at-risk youths said
that their friends had done so."

No takers. Of course.
Narrative parrots.
Lets do more EV since the science of criminal behavior has been settled

EDNEY - which is it? Gang members or homeless? Who are you trying to "prove" that they commit 90% of the crimes? You're challenging everyone here to debate you, but you're all over the place. What's your point?

edney Jun 09, 2021 01:47 PM

The original article had people respond that it was either gang membersand/or homeless So I said 10% of the people commit 90% of the crime and you voted it down.
I provided a link and data that shows that gang members commit crimes at a much much higher rate than even "at risk" youth.
Here is a link on homeless encampments and crime:
"Even if transients are not hard-core violent offenders, evidence from police case studies shows areas adjacent to transient encampments have higher levels of petty and serious crime unrelated to "routine behaviors," such as drug dealing and usage, disturbance, theft, prowling, burglary, panhandling, fighting, vandalism, armed robbery, rape, and aggravated assault.33 Stolen property, weapons, and wanted felons have been found in homeless encampments.34"

Also a small percentage of homeless use up astounding amounts of public resources:
"Because so many chronically homeless people have medical problems and substance abuse issues and frequently come in contact with the police and social service providers, they can be very costly to taxpayers. For example, a study following 15 chronically homeless people in San Diego found that they cumulatively received more than $3 million worth of public services in just 18 months. Despite benefiting from $200,000 in taxpayer-provided services during this time, each was still homeless. Just as a small number of criminals commit most of the crime and a few addresses in a city account for most of the calls for service, studies have found that about 10 percent of all homeless people consume about half of the resources.39"

EDNEY - first of all, I did not "vote it down." Believe it or not, other people disagree with you.

Now, as for your "proof," I don't dispute that 10% of the people commit 90% of the crime. That sounds about right. What I am saying though is, if you're going to come out here guns a blazing challenging everyone to debate, let's see what you got. You have yet to prove the following:

Assertion #1 - 10% of the population is homeless and/or in a street gang. Prove it.

Assertion #2 - Homeless people and/or gang members commit 90% of the crime in our country. This is pretty believable, but still...prove it.

Again, you can post all the links you want, but NONE of them prove your point. Start with your first assertion and work from there. Should be pretty easy to research. I look forward to your findings.

NOTE for those incapable of understanding the English language: I'm only asking for proof that 10% commit 90% of crimes. I am not in any way defending criminals. I am ONLY asking someone who is begging for an argument to prove their point, which I happen to agree with. Thank you.

EDNEY - still waiting for all that "proof" you were strutting around boasting about. Start with proving 10% of the population is homeless and/or in a street gang. Come on buddy, I know you can at least try after all that grandstanding!

Why SACJON, I am so flattered to be occupying space in your head rent free! Means a lot buddy! Want to know what else means a lot? Watching the illegal campers getting removed from People's Park here in Isla Vista.
Saw a couple of those overachievers EDNEY mentions get hauled away on outstanding warrants. It was even more amusing watching the Food Not Bombs Isla Vista tools get up in arms about the popo doing its job!
But SACJON, truthfully, I would NOT do any harm to the "houseless neighbors" just for the sake of doing harm to them. They harm themselves quite well, thank you, no help needed from me.
I just sit back, watch their removed & live to enjoy another rent free day in your head, all the time knowing I work hard, pay taxes and obey the law. Those you so vehemently defend... not so much! Thank you for the warm and kind thoughts & providing a residence!

RYPERT - Don't flatter yourself. You're not in my head any more than any other criminal or racist. You disgust me and I enjoy calling you out on it.

SACJON, you invoked my name out of the blue, so yes, I'm in your head little buddy! Not flattering myself in any way, just letting you know that you thinking of me gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling and I really appreciate it. Glad I disgust you, seems I tend to have that effect on those who defend "houseless neighbor" induced criminal activity such as yourself. Having an awesome day, I hope your day is great too. Whoops! That's right, the People's Park encampment is coming down, it is not looking good for your homies little buddy! Better get out and protest! Think about me while you're at it!

EDNEY, I think you are correct! Is it taxpayer funded or by private donation? I'm sure it is in a constant state of squalor.

By the way guys, I'm here in Isla Vista and Goleta, not Downtown Santa Barbara. We are clearing the problem out here, Downtown Santa Barbara, not so much. Best of luck to you all!
