On Thursday, August 1st, 2024, at approximately 9:15 A.M., Santa Maria Police & Fire Departments responded to a 2-vehicle crash at Stowell and Bradley Rd.
Santa Maria resident Edith Gomez Camarillo was driving eastbound on Stowell Rd. She was the only occupant in vehicle 1.
Santa Maria residents Randall Kern and his wife Marichu Kern were the occupants of V-2. The investigation revealed that Camarillo failed to stop for a red light and V-1 crashed into V-2. Randall and Marichu Kern were killed in the crash.
After an extensive investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Edith Gomez Camarillo. She was arrested on Monday, September 16, 2024 for two counts of PC 192(c)(1) (Vehicular manslaughter).
