The past two days I’ve noticed airplanes flying a lot lower as they descent towards the Santa Barbara Airport.
I live off Mission Street and the sound of these jets is louder than I can ever remember from living here for 15 years. I’ve rushed outside to see them flying overhead which I don’t seem to ever remember the flight path coming this far inland before.
Did the flight path change or are pilots going rouge? I took some screenshots from FlightRadar 24 the past two days to show the trajectories. To clarify, I’m used to airplanes flying overhead but most pilots do not fly this low or directly over my neighborhood.

Around 12:55 p.m. my windows rattled as this Bombardier Global 6000 business jet flew low on its way into SBA. The owner is “NetJets,” a luxury private jet service.

At 11:54 a.m., United Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 flew in from San Francisco, also flying abnormally low causing more window rattling.
*rogue (rouge = red or reddish color used to tint e.g., one’s cheeks)
Well, dont move to Goleta, its crazy, super low, super loud! Starts at 6am til late evening. Counted over 5 planes in 1 hr. Very challenging to watch a movie between 4& 8pm.
has it been a week already?
The fog has been very dense and hugging the beaches this past week.
*descend (not “descent”)
OP: I’ve heard the planes flying lower and it’s utterly obnoxious.
Started again this week after several months without a problem. Live near Bel Air Knolls. Maybe these planes are private jets coming in for Fiesta parties and celebrity moments but they are really low and loud and obnoxious.
Pilots refer to it as a descent.
Because it is a descent. It’s a noun, not a verb, though.
