A fire broke out at a carport in the 200 block of West Lolita Lane on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 as per a KSBY report. This is the second fire in the area in two weeks. Santa Maria firefighters responded to the incident around 6:30 a.m.

Heavy Damage Sustained By The Western Portion of the Carport

On Wednesday, the Santa Maria fire department rushed to an apartment complex carport in the early hours of the morning to respond to a fire. Two vehicles were ablaze, and the western section of the carport sustained major damage. However, owners were able to remove their cars.

The fire department is investigating the incident in collaboration with the Santa Maria police department. It is suspected to be arson and the fire department believes there is a possible connection between this fire and one that occurred in late May at Summergate Apartments.

The Santa Maria Fire Department is also investigating multiple fires have occurred within a five-block radius in the last few weeks. Some previous fires have since led to arrests. But the vehicle-related arsons are yet to be solved.

No injuries have been reported with respect to the fires. Nevertheless, the Santa Maria Fire Department urges all residents of Santa Maria to stay alert, and report any suspicious activity or if they have information related to either incident or any other recent incidents. Investigations are ongoing, and no damage estimates have been made available to the public.
