Passengers with existing reservations for March 7-8 can modify their bookings or request a refund.
Regular service on the Pacific Surfliner will resume Monday, March 9, following the normal timetable.
Amtrak Connection Bus routes will continue to operate, linking passengers to other Pacific Surfliner trains and expanding travel options across California.
Supported by Caltrans, the bus routes fill schedule gaps, connect riders to other Amtrak services, and provide access to destinations without direct rail service, including Palm Springs and Solvang.
As trains will not be operating, regular bus connections will not be available.

The shutdown is part of a coordinated effort by Union Pacific Railroad, Metrolink, and North County Transit District to perform infrastructure work at multiple locations along the LOSSAN corridor through Southern California’s coastal communities.
The agencies aim to complete all critical infrastructure work in one coordinated effort to minimize future shutdowns, according to Pacific Surfliner.
Planned projects during the closure include track bed repairs and crossing improvements in Santa Barbara, and track maintenance with switch upgrades in Ventura.
In Orange County, work includes track bed, crossing, and signal upgrades, power pole replacements, and projects supporting coastal rail resiliency. In San Diego, crews will continue Del Mar Bluffs stabilization, capacity enhancements, and signal improvements.
Travelers are advised to arrange alternate transportation in advance. Pacific Surfliner service is expected to resume Monday, March 9, following completion of the infrastructure work.
