Konstantin Morozov, the father and murder suspect from Santa Maria who abducted his 9-year-old son prompting an Amber Alert, has died, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Police Department received a tip from the FBI of Morozov's possible whereabouts. Together they tracked him, and his son, to a condominium complex near Lindley Avenue and Killion Street, near the border of Encino and Tarzana, reports the LA Times.

He was under surveillance for a period of time before he exited the building with the boy around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday when law enforcement came in contact with him. Official reports have not yet stated what transpired during these events, but it's confirmed that Morozov was shot by an officer. The boy was not harmed and is now in protective custody.

The Amber Alert was canceled shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Morozov was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. No officers were injured, reports the LA Times.

Amber Alert Canceled, Father Reportedly Shot by Officer

How can fathers use a child to take revenge against the mother? No thought of or love for the poor little child. This must have been especially spooky for law enforcement because of the recent discovery of the 5 year old's body here, taken and killed by dear old "Dad" to punish Mom. Some people are pure evil.
