Santa Barbara’s concert calendar seems to get more eventful this year, with Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds set to perform this fall.
The band is scheduled to perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl on September 9, 2026, as part of their ‘Mutiny for the Masses’ 2026 tour, according to the venue’s website.
The tour follows the release of the band’s latest album, “Mutiny After Midnight,” from alt-country maverick Johnny Blue Skies, who is also known as Sturgill Simpson.
During their previous tour, Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds took the stage with a marathon-style performance that GQ described as a “can’t-miss musical happening,” according to the Santa Barbara Bowl.
Assuring fans of “longer sets and greasier grooves,” the band announced it will not have an opening act, just the band focusing on delivering an uninterrupted, high-energy show.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the performance set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are available across several categories, ranging from $75.50 for ADA-compliant sections to $156.50 for the floor area. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 10, 2026.
Organizers have set a purchase limit of six tickets per customer. Any purchases exceeding the limit may be canceled.
Tickets will have a transfer delay, with resale options available through the Santa Barbara Bowl’s official ticketing platform.
To ensure fans get a fair shot at buying tickets at face value, the band is taking steps to limit scalpers by using an official resale platform where tickets can be resold at their original price.
Additionally, tickets for the show will be issued exclusively via mobile ID and will not be transferable.
Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds is set to make several stops across the U.S. as part of the “Mutiny for the Masses” 2026 tour, with Santa Barbara hosting one of the early performances.
According to the band’s social media post, the tour will begin on September 4, 2026, with a performance in Austin, Texas. The band will then travel across the country, with the final act scheduled for October 30, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky.

Led by the country singer-songwriter Simpson, who now performs under the moniker Johnny Blue Skies, the band blends elements of country, rock, and Americana.
‘Mutiny After Midnight,’ which was released in March 2026, was the first physical-only release to feature in Billboard’s top 10 in around three years, according to Billboard.
Currently, the album’s vinyl, CDs, and cassettes are sold out on their official website, but are available for pre-order. There are no details on downloading or streaming the album.
