People have been flying to Catalina since the early days of flight. Way back when, in 1920, a movie studio making a silent movie called “Trumpet Island,” used airplanes instead of boats to ferry actors from Hollywood to location on Catalina. “This is believed to have been the first picture ever made in which airplanes supplanted trains and automobiles in transporting players and technical staff from the studio to locations.” – Motion Picture News, June 5, 1920
Great shots! I’ve always wanted to fly in to Catalina. Such a great place!
