Additional Teen Arrested for New Year’s Stabbing

On New Year’s Day at about 2:13am, SMPD received a call of several subjects fighting in the area of Boone street and Thornburg. Upon arrival two victims were located with injuries. One victim sustained stab wounds and was subsequently transported to Cottage Hospital via Calstar. The other victim sustained a head injury and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center via AMR ambulance. Both victims have been released since the incident.

SMPD Detectives continue to investigate the incident and have made a second arrest in the case. On 1-10-20 SMPD arrested Alberto Morelos Pablo, 18 years old, of Santa Maria. Pablo was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery, Auto Theft and a Criminal Street Gang Enhancement. Bail was set for $100,000.

The SMPD Detectives have been investigating the stabbing since the incident. On 1-3-20 during the ongoing investigation detectives identified and arrested Eduardo Garcia Barrueta, 18 years old, of Santa Maria. Barrueta was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for Attempted Murder and a Criminal Street Gang enhancement.
