Firefighters knocked down a blaze Wednesday evening that damaged an accessory dwelling unit behind a home on Fleming Lane and displaced multiple family members, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Crews were first dispatched at 4:32 p.m. March 11 to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of Fleming Lane. An update later clarified the incident location as the 300 block, where a single-story accessory dwelling unit behind the main residence was involved.
Santa Barbara County Fire and the Santa Maria Fire Department responded. The fire was declared knocked down at 5:00 p.m., though officials reported a partial collapse of the structure.
No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
Several family members were displaced, and the American Red Cross is assisting. Fire crews remain on scene; the public is asked to avoid the area to support ongoing operations.
