The fun has begun. With the College of Creative Studies Commencement festivities already in the books, eight more ceremonies remain on UC Santa Barbara’s annual slate of celebrations. More than 6,800 students — a combination of undergraduate and graduate — have declared their candidacy to earn degrees in 2024. And they’ll all be honored across nine official events over eight days, wrapping up on Sunday, June 16.
Next in the lineup is the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, which will hold its annual Commencement Celebration at 9 a.m. Friday, June 14, outdoors in the Bren Hall Michael J. Connell Memorial Courtyard.
The remaining seven ceremonies, organized by college, level of degree and field of study, will be held on Commencement Green, near the campus lagoon:
• Graduate Division — Friday, June 14, from 1–3:30 p.m.
• College of Letters & Science, Division of Math, Life and Physical Sciences I — Saturday, June 15, from 9–11 a.m.
• College of Letters & Science, Division of Math, Life and Physical Sciences II — Saturday, June 15, from 1–3 p.m.
• College of Engineering — Saturday, June 15, from 4–5:15 p.m.
• College of Letters & Science, Division of Social Sciences I — Sunday, June 16, from 9–11:30 a.m.
• College of Letters & Science, Division of Social Sciences II — Sunday, June 16, from 1–3 p.m.
• College of Letters & Science, Division of Humanities and Fine Arts — Sunday, June 16, from 4–6 p.m.
Tickets are required for the ceremonies being held on Commencement Green. Each ticket admits two guests, allowing for a total of 12 guests per student. Each pair of guests entering on a single ticket must arrive together for admission.
All of the ceremonies and each of the celebrations will be webcast live; details and streaming links will be available in advance via the Commencement website.
Has UCSB apologized to families and students for upending their travel schedules with these ridiculous changes and ticket limits?
