When the check-in desk at your hotel doubles as a bar, and you’re greeted with a fresh “Welcome Cocktail” along with your key, you know it’s going to be a fun place to post up.
The Moxy Santa Barbara, Andrew Firestone of StonePark Capital and Jess Parker’s new hotel, embodies this sense of play: from the bright art adorning the walls to the tasty complimentary Goldfish at the ready in the lobby.
With the Moxy Santa Barbara’s prime location in the Funk Zone, including the wonders of State Street and the Waterfront just steps out the door, it makes perfect sense to imbue this property with a strong dose of fun.
Carlos at the front desk embodied the warm and easy breezy spirit of Santa Barbara as he graciously walked us through the amenities and made sure we got set up with the on-premises beach cruisers, perfect for exploring.
When we were there, the creative “Welcome Cocktail” was a perfect first sip of SB, consisting of vodka, club soda, lemon and eucalyptus essence. There’s also a fun selection of sparkling waters, juices, and sodas for non-alcoholic options.
The 31 stylish guest rooms are thoughtfully designed with bright blankets, cozy beds, large flat-screen TV’s and freshly-tiled walk-in showers. The outdoor pool is complete with comfy lounge chairs, a cozy orange hammock, palm tree views, and a large table, perfect for sharing a bite with friends while soaking up the sun, or making new ones over a cocktail.
The lobby features a 24-hour marketplace where you can heat up meals at your convenience, help yourself to a cup of complimentary coffee or sparkling water on tap, get a little work done from a plush couch, or play some games while meeting other friendly travelers.
Part of what has always charmed me about Santa Barbara is its walkability, and this hotel makes exploring by foot a breeze. Location is a huge perk. For those looking to park their car easily and hardly use it, Moxy Santa Barbara is just the place. For a convivial celebration, wine tasting rooms, breweries, award-winning restaurants, bars, and music venues are just steps away. Delicious restaurants like Loquita and Rare Society, as well as the hip tiki bar Test Pilot are literally steps outside your door.
Designed by Cadiz Collaboration, Moxy Santa Barbara’s jubilant and bright color scheme and fresh design, paired with a don’t take yourself too seriously type of attitude, kept a smile on my face throughout our entire stay. Whether you’re there for work, play, or a bit of both, at Moxy Santa Barbara, the joie de vivre is real, and infused into every sweet detail of your stay.
$290 a night – what happened to affordability?
You obviously don’t stay in hotels often.
I pay. $110 average. Why do we let these robber barons in?
Enjoy the bedbugs.
