A new climbing gym is under construction in Magnolia Shopping Center near Goleta.
Left side will be rock climbing walls, right side will be a bouldering area. They hope to open this June.

What used to be there?
I believe there were four units in that space, and three of them were not occupied. One of the units was a dental care facility and a few years back one of the units was a cosmetology school. Every once in a while you’d see students wheeling their practice mannequin heads on a cart out to their cars in the parking lot.
It used to be a Post Office.

I’m really excited about this. My husband and I have joined climbing gyms in LA, and Ventura… so it will be awesome if we get a decent place locally. The SB Rock gym is great for boulderers and for just a bit of training, but it’s too small to be your main gym.
Hopefully, we won’t become LA tiredmom. Make it bigger? No thanks.
