The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports a 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck southwest of Atascadero on Monday afternoon.
The earthquake was recorded at 4:30 p.m. and was about 4.3 miles southwest of Atascadero with an estimated depth of 3.3 miles.
Visual data provided by the USGS pinpoints the quake’s location on a map overlaid with fault lines, including the major San Andreas Fault, which is the dark red line east of where the earthquake was recorded.
