71 New COVID-19 Cases on Thursday

The Santa Barbara County Public Health (PHD) is reporting 71 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

The grand total is now 8,300 for the county, of those there are 219 that are active and considered infectious.

There are 38 hospitalizations throughout the county including 18 people in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Cottage Health-Specific Numbers

Below is a status update as of September 3, 2020. 

  • Cottage Health is caring for a total of 286 patients across all campuses.

  • 232 are acute care patients; 156 acute care beds remain available.  

  • Of the 232 acute care patients, 6 patients are on ventilators.
    84 ventilators remain available (adult, pediatric and neonatal ventilators).

  • Of the 232 acute care patients, 21 are in isolation with COVID-19 symptoms;
    18 are confirmed COVID-19 positive.

  • Of the 21 patients in isolation, 5 patients are in critical care.

  • From August 17–23:  
    2,291 COVID-19 laboratory tests were collected by Cottage Health.
    Results: 102 positive, 2,187 negative, 2 pending

  • From August 24-30:  
    2,033 COVID-19 laboratory tests were collected by Cottage Health.
    Results: 71 positive, 1,830 negative, 132 pending
