A total of eight people, including six small children, survived a vehicle rollover collision near Lompoc on Wednesday afternoon.
At 3:19 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a traffic collision on Harris Grade Road just south of Highway 135. They found a Ford Expedition had overturned with eight occupants inside and initially, declared a mass casualty, said SBCFD Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.
After an assessment, an adult female driver and another adult female passenger suffered minor injuries while six children, all under the age of six-years-old, suffered no injuries.
As a precaution, all passengers were transported to Santa Barbara Marian Medical for further evaluation.
The firefighters were assisted by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies and California Highway Patrol, who will be conducting an investigation.

Highway 135 at Harris Grade Vehicle rollover Baby was trapped in vehicle.
Someone crawled out other juveniles might have been in the vehicle also.
It is unreal how absorbed drivers get with everything BUT DRIVING SAFELY. Prior to 5 years ago, you never heard of rollover accidents. now with smart phone use, you almost hear it daily.
Also have to wonder about the types of vehicles that seem to roll over more often.
Tailgating, yacking on the phone, texting??? Where in the article does it say that any of this occured? Oh, let me add another probability…….of which there is no proof. But, just maybe, maybe they swerved to avoid hitting a dog on the road.
People really need to slow down, stop tailgating and pay attention on the 1. just because they repaved it nice and smooth does not mean it’s safe to drive 15 mph over the speed limit in the rain. it’s become so frustrating commuting between lompoc and sb because of brain dead, selfish drivers.
