44 New COVID-19 Cases and 2 Deaths

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) is reporting two new COVID-19 deaths and 44 new cases on Wednesday.

One individual was over 70 years old and resided in the Santa Ynez Valley inclusive of the cities of Solvang and Buellton and the communities of Santa Ynez, Los Alamos, Los Olivos and Ballard. One individual was between the ages of 30-49 and resided in the area of the City of Santa Barbara and unincorporated area of Mission Canyon.

Neither individual was a resident of a congregate-care facility and both individuals had underlying medical conditions.

The grand total is now 8,785 with 179 of those currently active/infectious.

There are currently 30 hospitalizations including 8 in the ICU.

  4. The virus won’t fizzle out until herd immunity is achieved. Unless hospitals are getting overwhelmed, why would you want to slow the spread? The people you describe are helping to get this all over with sooner. Look at Sweden by way of example. They never mandated masks because they didn’t believe the science justified it, they never closed schools, and they never shut businesses. Despite a number of dire predictions, they have only had 5000 or so deaths. Their rate of deaths per million is much lower than many other countries and many us states that have implemented severe restrictions on their citizens. Now Sweden is seeing minimal new cases an more importantly no more deaths. They are now relaxing the limited restrictions they had put in place. We could learn a lot from their approach.

  6. GT is hoping Dems get elected so that she gets more free government handouts. Fortunately more people are realizing this is not sustainable. People want jobs not handouts. Dems = keep people uneducated and reliant on government elites, close down businesses Reps = educated people, get them jobs, small government and pro business. Truly sad that most Dems do not see this. But that is the point. Dems want their voter base to be uneducated – else they will see through their “plantation owner” mentality.

  11. Right, the people who don’t believe this and aren’t wearing a mask, and continuously gather with lots of people outside of their own home. They are the ones keeping this going on longer and spreading it to others . They don’t realize it’s them , they are the reason everything is shut down and schools are closed . So their prolonging resistance has only made this last longer then it should of. What a huge loss, and most likely these people lost nothing, they probably gained money in their unemployment checks, and don’t pay rent. Wear your mask , wash your hands before touching your face/ mask. And keep a safe distance. That’s it. Who knew those 3 things would be so hard to do?

The GOP has lost all sense of conservatism and have instead transformed into a cult, an anti-science propaganda pushing machine of authoritarianism and autocracy, driven by the sick greed for power at all costs.
