The allure of Black Friday bargains captivates Americans nationwide, drawing in 76.2 million in-store shoppers and 90.6 million online buyers last year alone. It’s a day synonymous with unmatched savings, yet it warrants a moment of reflection on the reality of these deals.
Surprisingly, 41% of products will not be any cheaper on Black Friday than they were beforehand this year. This revelation may explain why a WalletHub holiday shopping survey indicates that 31% of Americans intend to reduce their holiday expenditure in 2024 compared to 2023.
To distinguish genuine discounts from mere marketing, WalletHub analyzed the price variations of a wide range of products before and during Black Friday. The aim was to identify the deals that genuinely offer value for the effort involved.
“WalletHub found that around 41% of Black Friday items offer no real savings for consumers compared to their usual prices, but the items that are on sale are an average of 24% off, with the highest markdown at 89%,” said Chip Lupo, a WalletHub analyst.

I got stumbled up on that iBUYPOWER, as my last Costco Pumpkin Pie trip I was showing a friend the same one (only as a frame of reference for a Lenovo laptop I was recommending) that’s $1299.99 (BlackFriday & in stock @ Goleta), but that only has the i9 14900F (so not the bitch’n 14900KF as on the one listed above). Being a huge fan of Newegg (ease of sorting & filtering) had to look it up, only sadness! Closest I could find was one that’s $1899.00 (BF) but that one’s got a way better video card (not a bad thing but…)?
