A small earthquake struck off the coast of Isla Vista on Thursday morning.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports the 2.7 magnitude quake struck at 7:55 a.m., approximately 6 miles south-southeast of Isla Vista at a 6 mile depth in the Santa Barbara Channel.
USGS states a handful of people from Goleta to Santa Barbara reported feeling a little jolt at the time of the quake.
An earthquake usually needs to be over 3.0 magnitudes for most people to “feel” it, according to USGS.

I slept through it…
I’m in San Roque and felt one very short, sharp jolt and it rattled a ceiling light fixture.
