Wow, Roger! You posted that so fast. I think a couple of people called it in (911): I was one of them. Fire trucks and Fire Department vehicles arrived swiftly and put it out: reported to be less than an acre. The smoke and fire looked to be near the eastern side of the Salvar Road bridge. (I can see that area from my place.) So very grateful to the Fire Department. Last truck left about 6:45 pm.

The week after the Holiday Fire, I was up there for an asteroid occultation. Along came a small SUV full of High School looking young ladies who drove up to the end of the road and began setting off road flares and fireworks. Incredible stupidity. A 911 call brought two SB Sheriff cars with light bars flashing who spent over an hour scaring some sense into them, I hope.

CaboMark: I've been meaning to Thank You !!! so much for posting your video of the Salvar Road vegetation fire on 23 August. The video is really nicely done -- it shows just how high the flames were in the tall grass -- and -- the quick response by the Fire Department. (I called-in this incident to 911 because I could see the smoke from my home.) Super great video -- and kudos for taking the time to post to Edhat.
