Heartbreaking. Our seniors are captive in long term care & convalescent homes, vulnerable to a virus that is killing them by the tens of thousands.

Current testing % positivity is today 7.7%, and current case rate is now 51.9. We're doing much better. I wish I could show you guys the plot, because it looks like a large peak and we're come steeply down the other side. Great news! Hopefully vaccines keep getting administered and testing continues. My only fear is this coming Super Bowl weekend, one of the largest events in US culture, then the Lunar New Year, another that is big among our very large Asian population. From California state COVID demographics, Asians are taking COVID very seriously, so hopefully this trend will continue. Super Bowl, there are no predictors on how that will turn out.

But what about Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years? How does Super Bowl eclipse those? Super Bowl is for those that are specific to sports fans and those that want to watch the clever commercials... which can be watched on youtube.

MountainMan, I hear you. All holidays have the potential, but these two are powder kegs, particularly given the proximity to New Years.

Wasn’t the 1000 students coming to the dorms the “powder keg”? We keep moving the goal posts to the point where we have completely lost all sanity and objectivity in SB. It’s time to be implementing the plan to restart schools in late March and Summer school at UCSB.

If you want to see the graphs, just go to the Santa Barbara County Community Data Dashboard Site (https://arcg.is/O1GGy), and click on the Status tab, then on the history tabs for the positivity and case rate. Official data, instead of social media data.

I would love to see the 'Demographics' tab updated. It was last updated on Sept. 30, 2020, then there was a notation that it would be updated 'quarterly'. Why even have it if the agency isn't going to maintain it?
